Steelers Tampa Bound! Ring Six on the Way!

January 19th, 2009 | Jeff

Our Steelers put a major hurt on the dirty birds today, winning the AFC Championship game 23-14 at Heinz Field. It should have been a worse beating than that but we had to play the officials again today too. No matter, it’s on to Super Bowl XLIII in Tampa to face another flock of birds in the Cardinals. No sweat, we’ll pluck them too.

The offense started off strong in this game, but sputtered a bit in the second half. Thank God for the Steelers “D”. They played a great game again and sealed the deal with Troy Polamalu’s “pick six” with 4:34 left to go in the game.

RING SIX!!!!!! LET’S GO STEELERS, WIN ANOTHER ONE!!!!!!

Updates on AFC Championship Game

January 15th, 2009 | Jeff

The AFC Champioship game will be played at Heinz Field vs the Ravens this Sunday, 1/18/09, at 6:30PM. Vegas has the Steelers as a 6 point favorite.

Our feeling is that the Steelers will win by at least 10 points. Reasoning? –> The Steelers have a defense as good or better than the Ravens. The Ravens offense is not the caliber of the Steelers, especially the way the Steelers offense and the O-Line have improved in the last two games. Willie Parker is back to full speed and appears to be on a mission. Ben looks healthier now than he has since the season opened. The Steelers fans and the Terrible Towel will make life difficult on the Ravens and their rookie QB. Granted, the guy has played pretty well for a rookie and he doesn’t seem to get rattled, but that will change with this game. The pressure to win is up and the Steelers D will apply even more pressure than he can handle. This should force the Ravens into mistakes and 3-and-outs. Injuries: the Ravens have several guys nicked up while the Steelers have only a couple of minor nicks.

The keys to this game are; not turn the ball over, punt well when necessary (don’t give them a short field), and keep the pressure on Flacco. If you see Ed Reed heading in the opposite direction, we might be in trouble. Other than that the Steelers are good to go!

GO STEELERS!!!!!

Steelers Crush San Diego – – – Bring on the Ravens!

January 11th, 2009 | Jeff

Now THAT was Steelers football! A great running game, good pass protection and good passing. Package that with the NFL’s best, bone-crunching defense and what do you get? Total Domination! This one was a laugher. Ben’s arm looked about as healthy as it has been this year. His decision making was good too even after the concussion two weeks ago. And what can you say about Willie Parker? He looked better in this game than he has all year. He finally has the burst back and the ability to make a cut. Amazing how a good running game sets up the pass and takes the heat off the pass rush, huh?

Have you ever seen a more dominating 3rd quarter? The Chargers had the ball for 1 play and had 0 (yes – I said ZERO) yards. The Steelers had the ball the rest of the quarter! Also, the Chargers running game, if you want to call it that, had a total of 15 yards in 12 carries. Willie Parker finished the day with 146 yards and two touchdowns. Again, this was Steelers football.

The Steelers are in peak form right now. It doesn’t make any difference who they play at this point – there is nobody hotter right now. Bring on the Ravens! Nothing would bring a greater sense of satisfaction than to have the Steelers be the ones to send them back to Baltimore while we make plans for the big game! GO STEELERS!!!!!

Ravens Beat Titans. Steelers have Home Field Advantage

The Titans loss leaves our Steelers as the top seed. A win over the Chargers today brings the Ravens back to the Burgh for another whippin’

GO STEELERS!!!!!

The Steelers Next Victim is the Chargers

January 4th, 2009 | Jeff

The Steelers opponent in the Divisional Playoff Game is the San Diego Chargers. The game will be played in Pittsburgh on Sunday, January 11, 2009 at Heinz Field. The game starts at 4:45. Lets hope for cold, miserable Pittsburgh weather to welcome our freinds from warm sunny San Diego! No matter, the Steelers are well rested, have beat the Chargers this season and will do it again. Meanwhile, the Rat Birds beat the underachieving Colts to move on to play the Titans in Nashville.

This should be fun, as the playoffs usually are. See you on Sunday at Barnacles. GO STEELERS!!!!!
