Rest In Peace Mr. Rooney

April 13th, 2017 | Jeff

It is a sad day for the Rooney Family, the City of Pittsburgh, and all of Steelers Nation. Dan Rooney, owner of the Steelers, passed away today at the age of 84. He was a real “Pittsburgh Guy” and will be missed.

Steelers in Playoffs (as they should be)!!

January 7th, 2017 | Jeff

Rejoice Steelers Nation, the Steelers are back in the playoffs! They had a rough stretch in the middle of the seaon dealing with injuries but are back to nearly full strength now. The killer B’s, Ben, Brown, and Bell,  will finally make their first playoff start together. Hopefully, the result will be what we expect— a thorough thrashing of the Dolfins!

The Steelers Fan Club of Atlanta will be represented in the many different Steelers hangouts around town (Hammerhead’s, Smith’s Olde Bar, Pepperoni’s, Snugs…). First step in the Stairway to 7!!!!!!

New Addition to Hammerhead’s

May 20th, 2016 | Jeff

Hammerhead’s Seafood and Sports Grille has expanded! Hammerhead’s has added additional space, seating, and a bunch of TVs, including 3 new big screens. They also added a separate sound system to the new section. This is going to be great for Steelers fans this season so we can watch the Steelers on our own big screen and sound system. Awesome!

For those of you who have been to Hammerhead’s you know how great this is going to be. For those of you that haven’t been there before, you need to! Check out the pictures section of this web site!

Dave & Busters Dropped

September 12th, 2013 | Jeff

Dave & Busters threw us a curve ball this season. They stopped reserving a room for Steelers fans and directed the fans that were there for the 1st game to the bar area. They had the Steelers on one TV. When one of our members asked to change a second TV to the Steelers, the manager refused. I wouldn’t recommend going there any longer. This is the probelm dealing with corporations rather than actual owners of the establishment. Managers change and so do the policies. My bad – I won’t deal with corporate locations or franchises and longer!

The Fan Club has a new location for the 2013 season! Hammerhead’s Seafood & Sports Grille!

Hammerheads

Our old friend Bob Graves, who helped get the Fan Club started back in 1990, has a new restaurant; Hammerhead’s Seafood & Sports Grille. Bob has offered to host us this year. Bob was the founder of Barnacles where we watched the Steelers for 20 years!! He was always a great host and knows how to run a sports bar! The menu is excellent and the wings are the best in Atlanta.

As you know, the Falcons actually have a decent team, as opposed to the many, many years of average-to-bad teams. For this reason, we will need to compromise on days when the Steelers and Falcons play at the same time. The Falcons will get the bar side of the building and the Steelers will get the dining room side. I suggest you get there early on those days to make sure we stake a claim to seats. Thankfully, there are only 5 games in conflict: Week 1 (Sept 8), Week 8 (Oct 27), Week 10 (Nov 10), Week 11 (Nov 17), Week 17 (Dec 29).

Hammerhead’s is located at 415 Peachtree Industrial Blvd, Suwanee, GA 30024. It is at the intersection of Peachtree Industrial and Suwanee Dam Road. It’s an easy to get to location with plenty of room for Steelers Fans!

Steelers First Pick in 2013 NFL Draft Fills a Need with a Bulldog!

April 25th, 2013 | Jeff

The Steelers first pick in the 2013 draft is Jarvis Jones, Linebacker from Georgia! We know the Steelers have some holes to fill and some depth to create. With the loss of James Harrison, this guys is a great “need” pick. Hopefully, this pick will help fill the void and give opposing QB’s something to fear! One of our other Georgia draftees was a kid named Hines Ward. If Jarvis Jones is half the player Hines was, we are going to love this guy! Go Steelers! Go Dawgs!
