The Steelers first pick in the 2013 draft is Jarvis Jones, Linebacker from Georgia! We know the Steelers have some holes to fill and some depth to create. With the loss of James Harrison, this guys is a great “need” pick. Hopefully, this pick will help fill the void and give opposing QB’s something to fear! One of our other Georgia draftees was a kid named Hines Ward. If Jarvis Jones is half the player Hines was, we are going to love this guy! Go Steelers! Go Dawgs!

We have some decisions to make for the 2012 season and need your input! Please read below and email your opinions to !

First, Jeffry’s Sports Bar in Braselton has been sold to new ownership. We had a core group there last season, but not really enough to be able to promise much business to the new owner. We haven’t approached him yet.
—–INPUT REQUEST! Would plan to attend Jeffreys regularly, or would you prefer another location?

Next, the General Manager of the new Tilted Kilt in Suwanee is a Steelers fan. He has an agreement with another Steelers Fan club, The Pride of Pittsburgh Fan Club, to host Steelers games this year. They don’t have an issue with our Fan Club joining them (we are all one Steelers Nation – right?) so this is a possibility for 2012. If you haven’t been to a Tilted Kilt, they have pretty women servers in “smallish” Scottish themed outfits. Visit them or their web site at http://suwanee.tiltedkilt.com/ They are at the intersection of Satellite and Old Peachtree, very convenient to get to from I-85.
—–INPUT REQUEST! Would plan to attend at Tilted Kilt? Also, if you have been attending at Twisted Tavern in Suwanee, do you still plan to go there, or would you plan to go to Tilted Kilt, which is only a couple of miles away?

—–INPUT REQUEST! We need input on Dave & Busters this year. Do you plan to attend again this season? We haven’t arranged it again for this year yet — should we?

We don’t see any changes needed for the Three Dollar Cafe in McDonough, or Pepperoni’s in Alpharetta. If you have any input on those locations, let us know! Thanks for your help, and here’s to the Steelers having another great year in 2012!!! Go Steelers!!!!!!

Hey everyone! Sorry for the short notice, but Jerome Bettis will be at the Buckhead Dick’s Sporting Goods tomorrow, Thursday 8/11, from 4-6 to promote concussion testing/awarenes for kids. It is open to everyone, but kids who play sports are especially welcomed. Here is the information I got from the contact at ImPACT:

“Jerome Bettis will be making an appearance at the Buckhead Dick’s Sporting Goods from 4-6 p.m. Thursday – signing autographs, posing for pics, spreading the word about concussion testing/management.

It’s all part of a campaign by Dick’s Sporting Goods partnering with ImPACT to test 1 million middle- and high-school kids this year for free. See www.DicksSportingGoods.com/PACE for details.”

Hope you can make it!

The Steelers drafted two offensive linemen, one defensive lineman, two defensive backs, one linebacker, and one running back in this years NFL Draft. Those are certainly areas where the Steelers need help and depth. Lets hope these guys turn out to be pro-bowlers of the future!

We especially like the number one pick, Defensive End, Cameron Heyward. He is the son of former Pitt and NFL star Craig “Ironhead” Heyward. He was born in Pittsburgh and went to high school right here at Peachtree Ridge High School in Suwanee, GA. He lists his current address as Suwanee.

The Steelers, and their loyal Nation, are disappointed today to say the least. Take away a turnover or two in the Super Bowl and we would be celebrating Lombardi Trophy #7. But things like that happen to all teams, good and bad, and it is what it is. It doesn’t take anything away from the season as a whole and the Steelers accomplishments. How many people picked the Steelers to even get to the playoffs when Ben was suspended for the first 4 games of the season? Not many. How about when it looked like we were thin at receiver after trading Santonio? Way to step up Mike Wallace, Emmanuel Sanders and Antonio Brown. How about losing not one, but two, starting tackles from the offensive line? Max Starks and Willie Colon. A patchwork line performed a juggling act all year and still found a way to get it done. Grit and determination. Someone step up and get it done. Thats the Steelers way. Blue collar.

Is the only measure of a great season winning the Super Bowl? It depends on your perspective. As Steelers fans, we hold our team to the highest standard. They have trained us, and spoiled us, that way. When you have been to 7 Super Bowls and won 6, the Steelers Nation expects only the best.

We love our bragging rights. But look from the perspective of the lower echelon: four teams have never even been to the Super Bowl. Clevelend, Jacksonville, Houston, and Detroit. Never. Zero. Zilch. They have never spent the 2 weeks between the Championship game and the Super Bowl watching the talking heads on TV analyzing their team. They have never gone shopping after the big game to buy new “5 Time Champs”, or “one for the thumb” leather jackets and t-shirts, only to find them obsolete after 3 years. They have never experienced a season with more than 16 or 17 games. By mid-January, they are analyzing the top picks in the draft and hoping for a miracle. I have experienced this eight times in my life and I am more thankful for each one. Unless you are too young to read this, you have experienced this 3 times now. How great is that??!

I don’t know how you feel about the loss, but for me, I’m glad I got to see a few more games, a few more big plays, a few more tense 4th quaters, a few more chances to question the play calling, and a chance to party with some good citizens of the Steelers Nation. It was a great, fun season! Hats off to the Packers. They have a good group of players and a good, loyal group of fans. Thanks God it wasn’t the Cowboys…
